To be part in the Grand Opening of
The Walkway/Bike Bridge in Poughkeepsie
The weekend of October 2 to October 4 2009

Along the Hudson Valley, in Dutchess and Orange County our Royal family is well-known and beloved.

As part of the Hudson 400 celebration, the oldest railway bridge over the Hudson River will be rebuilt to a Walkway/Bike bridge.
Mr. Fred Schaefer and his committee “Walking on Air” raised about
$ 35.000.000,- for realizing this wonderful project.
This bridge will be a real connection between the both sides of the Hudson Valley.

Henri Hudson himself named this river the Mauritius River, as honour to Maurits of Nassau. The Prince of Orange who ruled Holland at that time. It is the beginning of the settling of the Dutch along this river and the becoming of the most important society in the world.
At an old map, published by the Holland Society, the Hudson River is named Maurits River.

The Walkway bridge is often called the great connector, so it would seem appropriate that this also would be the connecting link between the Hudson’s historic Dutch past and the present day Valley and its newest project. The Hudson Valley celebrates what is now 400 years of this Dutch/American relationship.

Around the opening festivities we are organizing the conference “The Multicultural Society (Diversity), The Economic Power of the Future”, we named under chapter 5 and on October 11 the second New York Bike Tour.

There are more then thirty places with the same names or which had in earlier times the same name.
