Success
America as well as The Netherlands love being successful: to be good, and to have the image of being successful. Success can mean a level of social status, achievement of an objective or goal or the opposite of failure.
The difference between the USA and the Netherlands is that the American people are proud of their successes and value the people for being successful. The Dutch are more puritan and say: ‘Being normal is crazy enough’.
American culture is competitive and goal-oriented. The Americans worship winning, in industry, finances, sports, film, business, art, science, and so on.
The Dutch are successful in the way they organize their work and business. Even in sports. The Dutch soccer and skating coaches are welcome all over the world.
As small as The Netherlands is, they were number twelve on the medal list of the 204 participating countries in the Olympics in China in 2008. The USA was second.
It is also very interesting to follow what success is going to mean in the election of the new president of the USA, Barack Obama, his running mate, Joe Biden and their team.
In success, the hope to get ahead and to be better, has become reality. It is like finding the treasure at the end of the rainbow. A happy feeling.
