Future

Our actions today will define tomorrow’s history.
Four hundred years ago the settlers from The Netherlands were a promise and an example for the future of the USA. How can the US these days be an example for the Dutch? How do you show that a nation is ready for the future? By having the ability to create a desired future at your fingertips? By showing that this country dares to choose for the right president at the right time?
The Dutch twin brothers Robbert and Rudolf Das, futurologists, have published their book ‘Energy and our Future’. The way they see the future of the world, is that there will be progressive growth of prosperity. They have quite an optimistic view: the world is a water planet. So water will be the solution.
A hundred years ago, the celebration of three hundred years Henry Hudson was focused on the development of the airplane, steam navigation, light, and the replica of The Half Moon ship.
The four hundred years’ celebration looks more to the awareness of continuity and sustainability. And to the way international friendships can support the efforts to build a future together.
What will the five hundred years’ celebration be like in 2109? Hopefully we can look back and see that we were able to deal with the climate and environmental questions.
It is very likely that we will see the next generation of digital networks for all purpose communication instruments. A world strong in connectivity.
Nuclear energy will be more common, and the waste problem will be solved safely for the next generations. Flying from Amsterdam to New York is going to take twenty minutes.
Organizations have found a way to combine - for both men and women - work, family and personal development in a balanced way.
And what if there are enough jobs all around the world?

Which actions of yours today define tomorrow’s history?
What are your expectations for the next hundred years?
