All through the 400 years we have, quite a few well known people have been descendents from the early Dutch settlers. For instance, Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt, both presidents. And Peter Stuyvesant, who served as the last Dutch Director-General of the colony of New Netherland from 1647 until it was ceded provisionally to the English in 1664.
But also Thomas Edison, Bob Dole, Marlon Brando, Dick Van Dyke, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Colonel Tom Parker, who was Elvis Presley’s manager, and whose real name was Dries van Kuijk, William Penn from Pennsylvania, Herman Melville (Moby Dick) and John Updike. And of course the Vanderbilt family.
Dutch blood runs deep in the American veins.
The Dutch and the Americans do have many names and people in common, often well-known and successful in their field.
If you take these people as an example for finding a way to be successful, what can they teach you?
How well- known do you or your company want to be, and with what kind of actions do you take to work on that?
